“ Amazing food and a unique atmosphere . Not really a place like it in Austin, we loved it! Thank you to Vincent, or talented server who made our night perfect. He was an exceptional server and we loved having him. Thank you also to the entire team for making our anniversary special, Aaron the Bartender and Alex manager we can’t wait to go back. Food was delicious as well ”
“ Kalimotxo was simply divine. Delicious Spanish cuisine. 10/15/2024 Ambiance: The ambiance is really nice. It's dimly lit. Very comfortable seating, both the booths and the chairs. The chairs are a nice dark walnut with comfortable leather padding. Something like I'd want in my own home. Even the ceiling is ornately designed architecturally. Service: We had a very cordial, polite (but entertaining and educational) server. He was able to fully answer all questions we had, and we did have a few based on the menu, as well as recommend a drink/wine with what we ordered. He was great! Also, the chef (I think) came to our table and asked how our meal was. A few other folks working there, checked in and we felt very taken care of. Location / parking: This is on East 6th, right across the street from Whistlers and Lazarus. Both of which are also good places, especially Lazarus, the brewers there know what they're doing! You can street park, but paired with the hotel they are in, they also have valet on certain days. Price: This is a high-class place so you have prices that reflect this, however, for the quality of what you receive, the experience, it's totally reasonable and fair. Expect to spend some money, but expect to get an absolutely delightful and experience out of it; food, ambiance, and service are on point. Also on price, you wouldn't have to order as any dishes as we did, but we were celebrating something special. You could get out really quite reasonably, if you got specifically, just a few things. Food, specific details: Mushroom & Quail Egg Tosta - All of the tostas looked really good. The ones we got were absolutely delicious. 6.00 Uni Torrejas - My friend got this, I didn't try it, but it looked nice. I've had uni before and was weirded out by the texture so did not want to try it. 12.00 Tuna Crudo - top notch! See photo, also beautiful. 19.00 Patata Bravas - these were kind of like a fried potato, with some kind of a sauce that was tasty. 7.00 Pan Con Tomate - Is very tasty and seasoned bread 6.00 Fried Calamari - about 65% of the calamari were perfect. Some the calamari was maybe a little over, but still decent. 14.00 Grilled Whole Fish, came with muscles in the Shell, delightful flatfish. Very very tasty, buttery sauce. Divine. It did have some bones but we were directed by our server that we should avoid the tail and head areas of the fish. As long as we followed that advice, avoiding the bones was relatively easy. 42.00 *Permission from our server was acquired to post photo of him. ”
“ We were late for our reservation due to Congress Ave being closed. We called to let them know and they were very accommodating. The server (Reuben) was excellent. He took the time to walk us through the menu and make suggestions based on how hungry we were. He also suggested some cocktails that we wouldn't have normally chosen but we ended up loving them. Every dish was perfect! I couldn't believe each bite. The combinations of tastes and flavors and textures caught me off guard each time in such a fun and unique way. I feel like it's hard to make something unique with similar ingredients but somehow they've done it. 10 out of 10 you need to go try this place. It's really that good. ”
“ I had an amazing experience with my waiter, Vincent. He was incredibly attentive and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. Vincent was not only friendly but also knowledgeable about the menu, offering excellent recommendations that enhanced our dining experience. His positive attitude and prompt service truly made our visit memorable. I highly recommend asking for him if you dine here! ”
“ I went to Kalimotxo during their soft opening and it was such a wonderful experience. They had a live DJ and the space was so beautifully designed which made the atmosphere very inviting and warm. The staff was attentive and welcoming. Lastly, the menu has such a range of dishes to try that are shareable and delicious. I definitely recommend this restaurant to Austin natives or those visiting! ”
“ Since their re-opening on E 6th street, Kalimotxo has truly outdone themselves. We loved their first location at Hestia, but wow this place is gorgeous. Not only is the interior a sight to see, but the service and food is outstanding to say the least. Each person that dropped off a dish or refilled our water was so kind and knowledgeable about how the food is prepared and the story behind it all. I even had a killer latte with dessert. What more could you want?! We’re excited to come back with our friends and family and share this experience again. Thank you Kalimotxo! ”
“ Best Spanish food we’ve had in Austin since moving here in 2005. The pintxos were on point, the Jamon and croquetas were tremendous, and the bomba rice and mushrooms was a flavorful surprise. Great wine and cocktail selection as well. We had the pleasure of being waited on by the front of house manager, Alex (Alexandre), who was incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and made for one of the best service experiences we’ve had in years. I rarely, if ever, leave reviews but tonight’s experience really was that great. ”
“ I had dinner here the other night and Alexis was our server. She was very friendly, and had great suggestions. The food was very good, and each plate had a unique flavor. I would highly recommend the tuna crudo, and the croquetas de jamon. I wouldn’t recommend the jamon and chips. Overall though 10/10 experience. ”
